Peppers Clearwater Resort, Christchurch

Our stay at the hotel was truly special; the rooms were beautifully prepared for our wedding night with flower petals and a delightful chocolate platter. However, the noise from the private garage below was a downside. The lakeside view was breathtaking, but only if booking as a 3-bedroom suite.

The hotel had a partial view of the lake and provided a comfortable stay, feeling like a home away from home. However, it faced issues with cleanliness due to the overload of tournament and daily golfers in the rooms. Heating was inconsistent, echoing a colleague's similar experience on the same night in her room.

The hotel rooms were very comfortable, although the configuration with a cumbersome sliding door separating the main room from the bathroom might not be optimal. The view from the rooms overlooked the road and the tin roofs of the parking area. The cleanliness was satisfactory, but be prepared for the inconvenience of having to carry your suitcase up a significant amount of stairs. There was a bit of a stinky smell resembling overcooked bread, and the hassle during check-in was disappointing, especially after reaching out in advance to pick up the keys.

The hotel exceeded my expectations with its stunning views overlooking the golf course and lake from the balcony. However, I missed having a clothes drying rack in the room. The service was exceptional, with incredibly friendly and warm staff readily available to assist. The location, although a bit confusing to find initially, was perfect for our needs near the airport and with easy access out of town. The dining experience had its highs and lows, with some dishes being cold, but overall still enjoyable. The overall stay was a delightful experience with some minor inconveniences.
